Curly Confident — Live · Small-group class for professional hairdressers

Stop fearing curly clients.

One live day, six hairdressers, and the understanding that changes how texture feels in your hands — from something you hope goes well to something you know how to read.

Who it’s for

If curls make you hesitate, you’re in the right room.

  • You quietly hope curly clients book with someone else.
  • You can style curls — but cutting them dry, or deciding how much to take, still feels like a gamble.
  • Your curly consultations feel like guesswork on both sides of the chair.
  • You've watched the techniques online and still think: but why does that work?
  • You're experienced, capable — and tired of second-guessing yourself with texture.

None of this makes you a bad hairdresser. Curly hair is simply taught badly — as tricks to copy rather than behaviour to understand. Curly Confident was built to fix that.

The shift

“I hope this goes well.”

“I know what this hair needs.”

That’s the day’s real outcome. Not a certificate for the wall — a different feeling when the next curly client sits down.

What the day is built around

Understanding first. Technique second.

The full session plan is confirmed alongside each date — but every Curly Confident day is built on the same four pillars.

Understanding curl

What texture is actually doing — so you can read the hair in front of you instead of guessing from a chart.

Consultations that build trust

How to talk with curly clients so they feel understood — and you both agree on the same result before you pick up your scissors.

Decision-making you can defend

Why one approach suits this head of hair and not that one — the understanding that turns technique into judgement.

Confidence that lasts

Not a one-day high. A framework you keep using — because you finally know why it works.

Full curriculum, timings, venue details and investment are confirmed when dates are announced — registered interest hears everything first.

The room

Six chairs. No audience.

Curly Confident runs with a maximum of six hairdressers. It’s deliberate: small enough to ask anything, small enough for Amanda to see how you work, and small enough that nobody performs — everybody learns.

  • Every question answered, not queued
  • Individual attention on your work
  • A supportive room, never an intimidating one

Your educator

Taught by someone who remembers what not-knowing feels like.

Amanda Brooke has spent around twenty-five years in the industry — salon floor, editorial and fashion work, and years of teaching other professionals. She’s built Curly Confident around one belief: hairdressers don’t need to be shown off to. They need things explained properly, by someone on their side.

Questions

Asked honestly, answered honestly.

Who is the class for?

Professional hairdressers only. Whether you've been qualified two years or twenty, if curly hair makes you hesitate, this day is for you. It's not a consumer class.

I'm nervous about training in front of other people.

That's exactly why the group is capped at six. There's no audience, no showing off and no being put on the spot — it's closer to a conversation than a stage.

How many places are there?

A maximum of six hairdressers per class, so everyone gets genuine individual attention.

When and where is it running?

New dates and locations are being planned now and will be announced to the interest list first. Register your interest and you'll hear as soon as they're confirmed.

How do I book a place?

Register your interest or enquire about a class, and Amanda will call you to talk it through — what you want from the day, any questions, and whether it's the right fit. Places are only confirmed after that conversation, so you'll never be charged for something that isn't right for you.

Does enquiring commit me to anything?

No. An enquiry isn't a booking and no place is reserved — it simply starts a conversation with Amanda.

Next step
